Professional Master's in Computer Science
A course-based master's option for working professionals.
Our professional master’s programs prepares curious, motivated problem solvers to stay ahead of the innovation curve — equipping you with the knowledge and applied skills behind AI, natural language processing, deep learning, robotics and cybersecurity. You can pursue a general course track or choose from one of eight sub-plans to specialize in a specific field, such as robotics, data science and engineering, or human-centered computing.Ìý
Please note that more research opportunities are available for traditional MS students. Professional MS students also are not eligible for part-time instructor positions, teaching assistantships or research assistantships — only hourly appointments.Ìý
Curriculum & Requirements
During your first semester, you will work closely with your advisor to develop a plan of study that meets your professional goals. Whether you choose the general track or a sub-plan option, you will then complete 30 hours of coursework, including at least nine hours of breadth classes. If you choose a sub-plan option, you will complete fourÌýcourses within your area of specialization. You will also complete six hours of project-based coursework, which includes an entrepreneurial option that allows you to explore your own business idea.Ìý
General Track
Complete 30 credits of course hours, according to the course requirements listed below. The following rules apply:Ìý
- You must earn a B or better grade in three breadth courses.
- Your remaining sevenÌýcourses can be any approved graduate courses.
- You may take up to two non-CS approved classes.
